How can we help at home?

In our school we work daily with the students to increase their English level during English and Science class. We spend sessions playing, working, singing, learning…and most of all having fun.
However the students cannot leave the school in the afternoon and not practice English outside it. We need to improve the children’s English everywhere, not only in the school. But how can we do it?

Here are some tips that maybe are good ideas for you.

• Listen to English songs and try to recognize as much words as you can.
• Try to watch English movies. At first is very difficult but at the end the kids get used to it. You can also use the subtitles to make it easier.
• Buy English books. There are big ranges of English.
• Let the children play with the computer but give them some special webs where they can practise English while playing. (Enchanted learning, BBC, The house of English, PBS kids…)
• Hang 10 flashcards on different objects around the house. When you think that the kid knows them, add some more. This is good to work on the vocabulary and the spelling too.
• Play little roll-plays with your kids. First with few sentences and adding more every time. This is fun and the kids love it.
